What iF our sector were anti-racist?

Disrupting practices in philanthropy that perpetuate anti-Black racism and other intersectional discriminatory harms.

Confluence of Possibility

Confluence is the flowing together of two rivers, a merging. Our convening of the same name brings together bold ideas and collective visioning among community members, colleagues, and partners in the continued fight for racial justice.

Confluence isn't an annual event. We hold it every few years, when there's something significant enough to bring the field together around. Each iteration takes on a theme that pushes philanthropy further; our 2024 convening centered on reparations for Black people and iF's own wealth origin story.

iF’s Reading Rainbow

iF's recommended reading list, also known as our Reading Rainbow.

We believe deepening our analysis is part of the work. Every book on this list was chosen intentionally, with a brief note on why we recommend it and how it connects to iF's work and values, from sharpening a Black feminist lens to deepening historical understanding.

This is a living resource. We keep adding to it as we find new reads that are informing, challenging, and sustaining us.

Black Feminism as Antidote to Fascism

Authoritarianism depends on control. Black feminism offers an antidote.

Rooted in the lived experiences of Black women, Black feminism provides a framework that strengthens exactly what authoritarian systems try to weaken: shared knowledge, collective care, and material autonomy.

This series explores Black feminism as both theory and practice. In a political environment where attacks on autonomy and democratic participation are constant, Black feminism offers tools for resilience and care that the moment demands.
